Human Appeal announces return of annual Winter Wrap-Up for 11th year amid ongoing cost of living pressures

The humanitarian aid charity is on a mission to collect up to 12,000 coats for those in need this winter, as new research highlights the continued financial strain facing households across the UK.

Human Appeal, one of the UK’s leading humanitarian charities, is calling on the public to donate winter coats and warm clothing as part of its annual Wrap-Up campaign, which returns for its 11th year. This year, the charity is aiming to collect 12,000 coats and 18,000 items of winter clothing for people facing hardship across the UK.

This year’s edition will run from 14th October until 25th November, and will take place across major UK cities: Glasgow, Edinburgh, Bradford, Leeds, Manchester, Leicester, Birmingham, the Black Country, Luton and London - each with local drop-off points, volunteer teams and partner charities.

For many going through hardships, winter can bring anxiety, challenges, and much financial uncertainty as people navigate the ongoing cost-of-living crisis; the winter Wrap-Up campaign aims to alleviate some those pressures by protecting vulnerable communities in need this winter. New research from the House of Commons Library, based on ONS data, found that 55% of adults in Great Britain reported an increase in their cost of living in August 2026, highlighting the continued financial pressures facing households across the country.

Launched in 2015, Wrap Up returns for its 11th edition, having grown into the UK’s largest warm clothing campaign and one of the country's biggest annual volunteering events. The campaign comes after a record year for Wrap-Up, with Human Appeal collecting over 40,000 items of winter clothing in 2025 for its 10th anniversary, including over 10,500 coats – a 62% increase in donations from previous years. To date, Human Appeal has collected over 326,700 coats in the last decade since Wrap Up launched.

Wrap Up will take place in partnership with SafeStore, Hands On London, Network Rail and Bag2Charity. Donated winter clothing will be distributed among Human Appeal’s network of charities to support people experiencing homelessness, refugees, asylum seekers, victims of domestic abuse and children in need, with partners highlighting a significant shortage of men’s coats.

Razwan Faraz, Human Appeal’s Associate Director of UK Fundraising, says: “Winter can place enormous pressure on people already facing financial hardship, and a warm coat is a simple but meaningful way for people to support someone in their community. We’re encouraging the public to repurpose, forward on and donate what they can to help us reach this year’s target, spreading a positive message of compassion and unity”.
