Why donate your Riba?

Riba (interest) is forbidden in Islam. We cannot benefit from it, but we must remove it responsibly. By donating your accumulated interest to charity, you:

• Avoid the grave sin of benefiting from Riba
• Support vulnerable people through Sharia-compliant projects
• Cleanse your wealth from haram accumulation

Where might you be accumulating Riba?

Interest can be earned or paid in many everyday ways, including:

• Interest from current accounts, savings accounts, or ISAs
• Interest when lending money, goods, or property
• Interest paid on loans, mortgages, overdrafts, or credit cards

We cannot undo paying interest on things like student loans or mortgages, but we can undo the haram accumulation of interest we receive — by giving it away.

How your Riba is used

When you donate your Riba through Human Appeal, we channel it into:

• Emergency relief projects

• Always in a Sharia-compliant way

While you won’t receive reward for Riba donations, you will have:

• Avoided a grave sin
• Benefited those in urgent need

Human Appeal is committed to providing aid in the country or programme that you select. In the event we complete the programme, exceed the required funds, or are denied access to a particular country for reasons beyond our control, Human Appeal reserves the right to reallocate your donation to another programme where it is needed most.
