Human Appeal’s UK response team launched into action last night as hundreds of residents in south Manchester were evacuated from their homes.
Storm Christoph has battered parts of England and Wales, causing widespread flooding and leaving thousands of people either trapped in their homes or having to evacuate.
Around 300 homes in Didsbury and Northenden were evacuated last night, with families having to spend the night at Manchester City Council’s rest centre at Wythenshawe Forum, or Didsbury Mosque which had also opened its doors to those affected by the floods.
Our UK response team visited both sites and handed out 108 packs of biscuits and 162 juice cartons to families in need of food and energy.

If your area is affected by flooding, please check your local council’s website for the latest official advice.
