The Messenger of Allah peace be upon him, said, “The best charity is that given in Ramadan” (Hadith Al-Tirmidhi)
The unthinkable has happened; as families in Gaza were beginning to rebuild and observing Ramadan with small pockets of joy, the bombing resumed. Hundreds have been killed across the Gaza Strip while sleeping in their beds, standing in Qiyam, or waking for suhoor.
Homes, mosques, schools, and farmland have all been bombed as the foundations of society have been targeted.
The bombings were preceded by a total blockade on aid, fuel, and electricity into Gaza, drastically intensifying the suffering and impacting the community’s ability to cope. We must act now to prevent hunger and starvation in Gaza, and to help doctors to cope with the sheer number of injuries. Families in Gaza are depending on us to step up and support them this Ramadan.
The Messenger of Allah (PBUH) said, " Whoever draws nearer (to Allah) by performing any of the (optional) good deeds in (this month) shall receive the same reward as performing an obligatory deed at any other time,” (Ibn Khuzaymah)
Zakat
Our work in Gaza is Zakat-applicable and you can calculate what you owe with our easy-to-use Zakat calculator. Obligatory deeds performed in Ramadan reap seventy times the reward.
Our work so far
Our staff have been working every single day since October 9, 2023. In that time, they’ve provided 8,044,658 items of aid to 1,728,317* people, including:
While we advocate and pray for a lasting ceasefire, we’ll continue working every day to ease the hardship. Help us to be there for families in Gaza as they are targeted during the holiest month of the year.
For 33 years we’ve been working in Palestine. In that time, we’ve built vast experience and connections. We know Gaza, and Gaza knows us. Entrust your charity to our decades of work in Gaza, while seeking the multiplied blessings of Ramadan.
Give mercy.
Give comfort amid destruction
It’s impossible to overstate the utter destruction that’s still going on in Gaza. People who were just beginning to recover, are once again being displaced, wounded, traumatised and killed.
Our hot meals and food parcels are helping families to break their fast amid the unsafe conditions. As the ummah, it is our duty to provide them with this minimum of securities – a meal to break their fast.
We’re continuing to communicate with our colleagues at Al Awda Hospital, to assess what is most needed. Our health centre in northern Gaza to support around 3,750 people each month, with 10 outpatient clinics. Only 11 out of Gaza’s 36 hospitals are functioning in any capacity and the few hospitals left standing are struggling to treat patients without enough medicine, anaesthesia, doctors, or equipment.
Help us to provide shelter to families who have been displaced, giving them a private space after months of living communally without privacy.
Our hygiene kits will help families to stay clean and to avoid the spread of disease. We must act now to prevent the devastation and knock on effects of bombings that we witnessed last year. Donate now to help us avert malnutrition, dehydration, and the spread of diseases. Save lives this Ramadan.
