Shelters of mercy
£3,800 – provide one modular home, which is insulated, and includes a toilet, shower, bathroom sink, a kitchen sink, and solar-powered electricity.
£380 – provide one share of 10, helping a family to have a modular home, which is insulated and includes a toilet, shower, bathroom sink, a kitchen sink, and solar-powered electricity.
The Messenger of Allah (PBUH) said, “Whoever brings ease to one in difficulty, Allah will make it easy for him in this life and the Hereafter. Whoever covers a Muslim, Allah will cover him in this life and the Hereafter. Allah is in aid of the servant so long as the servant is in aid of his brother.” (Sahih Muslim)
Multiply your Zakat by 70 times
This project is a profound way to give your Zakat, transforming the life of a family that has survived against the odds of bombing, displacement, and utter horror. Give them a warm, comforting place to call home so they can begin to heal from the trauma and loss they’ve endured.
What is our innovative shelter?
We’re the first charity to provide these homes; each one is a 3-by-5 metre insulated modular shelter, repurposed from a shipping container. They provide privacy and dignity, with a family space for sleeping, washing, and gathering. Importantly, it provides a safe place for the family to pray and worship this Ramadan, allowing them to seek the peace and blessings of the holy month.
Each home has a window, a bathroom with a shower, sink, and toilet, a large kitchen sink, lighting, and a power socket. The water is distributed to the kitchen area and bathroom from a tank that the family refills, and electricity is generated sustainably from a solar panel, making this a sustainable home that brings comfort to a family whose home has been destroyed.
Currently, Human Appeal is the only charity offering this robust, sustainable shelter.
Destruction in Gaza
A staggering 90% of homes have been destroyed in the attacks in Gaza, and 66% of all buildings have been damaged or destroyed. Families who make the long journey home do not know if they will be among the lucky few whose homes are still standing, or if they will have nowhere to shelter this Ramadan.
Help families to have a private space to call home in this month of mercy, and reap the multiplied blessings of Ramadan.

The Messenger of Allah (PBUH) said,“…whoever discharges an obligatory deed in (this month) shall receive the reward of performing seventy obligations at any other time." (Ibn Khuzaymah)

Why give through Human Appeal
With over 33 years of experience in Gaza, we have the expertise and determination to navigate through barriers, source supplies locally, and deliver critical aid to those in need. Even as the war on Gaza continues, our heroic staff in Gaza is able to run incredible projects.
During Ramadan, we helped over 700,000 people, and we delivered your Qurbani to almost 17,000 people, despite the siege and closed borders. Over the past year, we’ve begun the process of sponsoring 4,000 new orphans in Gaza, and we’ve delivered hot meals to over 2 million people.
*In extreme emergencies like this it is difficult to accurately count how many individual people we helped but to conservatively calculate this figure, we avoid double counting, this means that if we distributed 3,000 meals on a Tuesday and 3,000 on a Wednesday in the same area, then we only count this as 3,000 people, despite providing 6,000 meals.
Human Appeal is committed to providing aid in the country or programme that you select. In the event we complete the programme, exceed the required funds, or are denied access to a particular country for reasons beyond our control, Human Appeal reserves the right to reallocate your donation to another programme where it is needed most.
