On March 28th, 2025, a devastating 7.7. magnitude earthquake struck Myanmar, leaving thousands of families’ homeless, without access to necessities, and in urgent need of assistance. The most vulnerable groups affected include displaced families, children, the elderly, women, and people with disabilities. Three months on, communities are still facing immediate threats to their survival, including hunger, lack of shelter, and limited access to clean water.
£85 – Provide an emergency response kit for a family-of-five. Each kit contains essential food, water, and shelter items. OR £50 – Help to provide an emergency response kit, providing essential food, water, and shelter items to a family-of-five.
Our team is on the ground in Myanmar, delivering life-saving aid to thousands of families. We have distributed 1,000 food parcels and 1,000 essential non-food parcels to 1,000 families in five villages, including Shwepyi Yan Aung, Kanlay Quarter, Naypuukone, Shweseekone and Yintaw. This addressed the immediate hunger, water, and shelter needs but it also helps to prevent disease outbreaks in overcrowded shelters.
The earthquake has worsened one of the world’s largest and most neglected humanitarian crises, with conflict, disease and poverty also driving unprecedented humanitarian need.
The locals and beneficiaries remain fearful of earthquakes. Since the major 7.7-magnitude earthquake, this region has experienced several aftershocks, some around 5-magnitude.
As a result, many are concerned that some remaining buildings may not be resilient enough to withstand further earthquakes. People in these areas remain in a state of alarm, fearing both potential aftershocks and the collapse of weakened structures.
Help us to provide 1,000 kits by Friday
Your help is urgently needed. Scores of people are still trapped under collapsed buildings, and displaced families that have already lost everything, are at risk of being caught up in the ongoing civil war. Every moment counts as we work to provide relief during this urgent crisis. Help us to provide 3,000 kits by Friday, the most blessed day of the week.
The earthquake has caused widespread destruction in both rural and urban areas across Myanmar. Communities are struggling to survive without adequate food, water, or shelter. In some of the hardest-hit regions, infrastructure has been severely damaged, with roads and communication lines destroyed, making access to aid difficult.
Myanmar's existing socio-political and economic challenges, combined with the scale of this disaster, have left communities especially vulnerable. Without rapid humanitarian assistance, the risk of disease, malnutrition, and further loss of life will increase. By providing immediate relief and working closely with local authorities, we can help alleviate suffering and support these communities in rebuilding their lives and resilience.
For £85, you can provide a family with an emergency kit containing the essentials they need to survive in these critical moments. Your donation will directly support those most affected, ensuring they receive food, clean water, and basic shelter supplies.

“On the day of the earthquake, I left home to attend the mosque for Jummah prayers. I started feeling tremors and crashed my motorcycle. The minarets of the mosque collapsed, then the entire mosque collapsed.
"We were able to retrieve one body from the rubble, but it took over four hours to retrieve another body that was trapped. We had to cut through metal using a machine and use crow bars. The whole village helped, and the person was given a proper funeral. It was very difficult.
"People lost entire limbs. It was harrowing to witness. Some of those trapped were still in the position of prayer. Families endured immense pain to see their loved ones like this. I, myself, broke two inner bones in my hand, but others had to have their legs, thighs, or arms amputated. Some people are still hospitalised and remain seriously injured. Most of the villagers had gathered at the mosque, so almost everyone was injured and some passed away.
"There were six mosques in the village, and all of them collapsed. Two are very badly damaged and some require renovation.
"Initially, I paid for my treatment myself, until kind donors from Human Appeal stepped in. We were struggling to make ends meet but Human Appeal has helped in many ways, not just with my medical bills but also by providing food, such as rice, oil, salt, and biscuits, as well as providing mosquito nets and blankets. On behalf of my family and my entire village I am deeply grateful. Your support has meant so much to us. “
