Already this winter, at least 40 Palestinians have died from drowning, hypothermia, or collapsing buildings. As infrastructure and drainage systems lie in ruins, families must not only endure continued attacks, but also fight to survive the cold, flooding, and the spread of disease. 60% of homes in Gaza have been damaged or destroyed and 85% of people are displaced – most of them facing winter in cold shelters or tents that don’t protect them from the rain and freezing temperatures.
Each winter, Palestinian refugees in Lebanon endure freezing temperatures, heavy rain, and flooding in overcrowded camps with crumbling infrastructure. Many live in poorly insulated shelters, without reliable heating or electricity, forcing families to choose between warmth, food, and medicine as winter deepens their already severe hardship.
