Solar-powered water pumps in Tharparkar
“The best charity is giving water to drink.” (Ahmad)
In drought-hit areas of Pakistan, 30% of homes don’t have reliable access to clean water, which puts the whole community at risk of waterborne diseases, and makes them vulnerable to the spread of viruses and bacterial infections.
£200 – access to a solar – powered water pump supporting 10 people. Double your donation.
£500 – access to a solar-powered water pump supporting 25 people. Double your donation.
£1,500 – access to a solar – powered water pump supporting 75 people. Double your donation.
The gift of clean water
When you support this project, you’ll help to provide an entire community of 900 people with access to clean water, quenching their thirst, helping them to grow crops, and rear cattle, without worrying about waterborne diseases, or walking long distances just for the basic right of clean water.
A water well doesn’t just provide the best of charities, it’s a Sadaqah Jariyah that continues to give, and continues to bless the giver for as long as it’s in use. Change the future of an entire community, and reap the rewards of this blessed act, year after year.
Running out of water and time
Water is about much more than quenching thirst; it is what creates jobs and helps communities to lift themselves out of poverty.
When families struggle for water, it doesn’t just mean that they don’t have clean water to drink; without water, families can’t grow food, feed their livestock, stay clean, or have produce to sell. Without your support, residents will always be stuck trying to overcome the water shortages, which is especially dangerous as they try to protect themselves from COVID-19.
After years of cyclical drought, 21 million people in Pakistan don’t have access to clean water and experts predict the country could run out of water by 2025. A fifth of diseases in Pakistan are associated with poor sanitation and water quality.
