Aftershocks continue to shatter lives
A catastrophic earthquake struck Morocco’s Atlas Mountains in early September, killing 3,000 people and injuring 5,600 more. The whole region was devastated, with mountains falling onto homes, and entire villages flattened.
Now, winter has arrived with subzero temperatures, and surviving families don’t have a way to protect themselves from the snow that hits this region each year.

Human Appeal, in partnership with a local Moroccan organisation, is providing vital support to these affected families. We are among the few charities granted permission to operate in this region, and our dedicated team is prepared to deliver your aid.
Be a mercy to a family
Emergency Food Kit - £80: This kit includes 50 kilograms of essential food items, such as flour, oil, dates, lentils, sugar, semolina, tuna, rice, pasta, and 2 litres of water.
Winter Clothing Kit - £52: Each kit equips a person with warm clothing to endure the impending cold weather, including a winter coat and boots. A vital lifeline since winters in this region often bring sub-zero temperatures and heavy snow.
Shelter kit - £48: This kit provides a family that has been forced to flee their home with a warm winter blanket and a comfortable mattress, ensuring they have a warm place to sleep.
Kitchen Kit - £40: This kit helps a family that has lost all their household supplies in the earthquake. It provides essential items for cooking and dining, including pots, pans, a kettle, coffee pot, glasses, spoons, knives, and a set of plastic plates.
Emergency Cleaning Kit - £10: This kit supplies families who survived the earthquake with cleaning essentials, including laundry detergent, bleach, and dish soap. These items are crucial for maintaining hygiene and preventing waterborne illnesses.
Medical Supplies
We're delivering containers of medical aid to Morocco. Your £10 donation can be transformed into £90-worth of critical medical equipment, including surgical tools, anaesthesia supplies, and monitoring and recovery tools.
The most powerful earthquake in over a century
The devastation of the earthquake is due to both the magnitude and location – it struck the Atlas Mountains where communities live in stone houses not designed to withstand earthquakes, which are rare here. Now, entire communities are struggling to survive, still living in tents as temperatures plummet.
Human Appeal’s response
Human Appeal is working to support survivors of the earthquake to recover. With our local partners, we’re providing medical supplies, food, warm clothing and winter boots, mattresses and thick winter blankets, helping to keep families warm, fed, and protected in these bitterly cold months.
In the coming weeks, we’ll also be providing tents, pallets, plastic mats, food parcels, winter kits, and school kits.
