What is Gift Aid and How Do I Use It?

• What is Gift Aid?

  Gift Aid allows us to claim an extra 25% from the government on your donation if you’re a UK taxpayer.

• Am I eligible for Gift Aid?

  For your donation to qualify for Gift Aid you must:

  Be a UK taxpayer

  Have paid at least as much in Income Tax or Capital Gains Tax in that tax year as you want to be claimed in Gift Aid. To check if you’ve paid enough tax to use Gift Aid or for more information on claiming back higher rate tax, please visit the HMRC website.

• Can I claim back tax too?

  Yes, if you’re a higher-rate taxpayer, you can claim back the difference through your tax return. For more information on claiming back higher rate tax, please visit the HMRC website.

• What if my situation changes?

• Do I have to make a declaration with every donation?

  No. To make it easy for both you and Human Appeal, the declaration wording covers present, future and past donations.

  By completing the Gift Aid declaration form, we can claim Gift Aid on your donations to us over the last 4 years, and any donations you make in the future – unless you tell us otherwise.
