UK nutrition and malnutrition
Nearly two-thirds (60%) of food-insecure homes are buying less fruit and 44% are buying fewer vegetables. This contrasts with 11% of food-secure homes buying less fruit and 6% purchasing fewer vegetables.
Experts are warning of a ‘health emergency,’ in Britain, which could drive conditions linked to poor nutrition, such as malnutrition and rickets. This is simply unacceptable.

In response, we’re partnering with global Halal cash & carry brand, Aytac, to launch our Purple Parcels Appeal to help nourish the nation.
Our Purple Parcels will be distributed across Manchester, Birmingham and London from Aytac warehouses in the north and south. Each parcel contains 15 nutritious items, including lentils, mango juice, chopped tomatoes, white beans, chickpeas, Lakeland whole milk, cream of tomato soup, tuna, long grain rice, pasta, flour, sea salt and sunflower oil.
