After five months of conflict that has killed more than 32,000 Palestinians and left most of Gaza in ruins, there’s little to enjoy this Ramadan. What should be a time of peace, fasting and family time has been overtaken by destruction, famine, and fear.
With no end to the conflict in sight, the hunger crisis is worsening. Families are being forced to eat grass and animal feed to survive, and at least 20 children have already died of starvation.
We are responding by providing 1 million hot meals and 20,000 nutritious food parcels to feed 100,000 families facing famine. Plus for every £65 food parcel you donate to feed a family, our partner will provide the family with another food parcel, securing further meals. Our aid is reaching Gaza
Your support has allowed our local team to source aid within Gaza, while we also bring in relief from the outside. We’ve got over 32 years’ experience in Gaza; since the start of this crisis, we’ve helped over 826, 430 people in Gaza to have access to food, medicine, reinforced shelter, hygiene items, and warm winter items.
Aid deliveries
We’ve delivered eight planes full of aid – that’s 240 tons – in partnership with Jordan Hashemite Charity Organisation (JHCO). This essential relief has already provided £3.6M million worth of lifesaving aid including antibiotics, anaesthesia, items for surgery, rehabilitation, infant care, pain relief, winter aid, baby milk hygiene kits for women and girls, and prenatal vitamins.
Our convoy of three shipping containers has also entered Gaza, providing over 36 tons of food, 32 crates of winter clothing, as well as 2,000 blankets, and 2,000 mattresses.
Mobile clinic
In coordination with Al Awda Hospital, our mobile clinic in Rafah moves to different school shelters each day, providing essential healthcare for the sick, and injured displaced families.
Clean water supply
Our desalination plant, the largest in southern Gaza is providing 52,000 litres of water every single hour.
Scale of destruction
A staggering 85% of all people in Gaza are now displaced, and 70% of homes are damaged or destroyed. According to Human Appeal’s team in Gaza, there is officially no safe place left in the entire Gaza Strip. This, amid spiraling starvation that threatens to trigger another irrevocable humanitarian crisis.
Terrifying scenes show the utter destruction of cities razed to the ground, highways strewn with rubble and bodies, and of generations of families being pushed into increasingly small permitted zones. Hospitals, mosques, water sources and residential buildings are being struck without warning, wiping out entire neighbourhoods. Those who escape have sought shelter in schools and hospitals, but these have also been targeted by bombs. This Ramadan, Palestinian families who have fled their homes need food to avoid starvation. Working with our partners Jordan’s Hashemite Charity Organization (JHCO), we shipped 5 planes and 3 containers of humanitarian aid, including winter clothing from Jordan to our warehouse in Gaza.
We provided winter clothing to displaced families struggling to stay warm in Gaza.
The Human Appeal Desalination Plant, the largest in Rafah governorate, is now operational, benefitting over 30,000 local inhabitants with improved water quality in the aftermath of recent displacement.
Our medical shipment reached Gaza and we were able to distribute critical medical supplies to Aouda hospital.
Amidst this crisis, Human Appeal is making a difference. Our Water Desalination Plant, the largest in Rafah Governorate, is now operational. Located in the Eastern Gaza Strip, it produces 57,000 litres of clean water every hour.
We continued to distribute hundreds of food parcels and hygiene kits to displaced Palestinians seeking shelter in the central Gaza.
We delivered food parcels, baby formula, nappies/diapers, and other essential items to the paediatric and intensive care departments at Nasser Hospital in South Gaza.
