The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said, “Whoever gives food to a fasting person to break his fast, shall have his sins forgiven, and he will be saved from the Fire of Hell, and he shall have the same reward as the fasting person, without his reward being diminished at all." (Hadith Ibn Khuzaymah)

It is deeply meaningful in Islam to provide iftar to fasting people, and even more so to communities that have been oppressed and deprived of food. But our grand iftars go beyond even that, providing a space of healing, solace, and connection to Allah by bringing the community together as an ummah.

On average, these grand iftars support a staggering 5,000 people in one night, but we can’t host them without your help.

Every person receives a hot meal of rice and meat, soup, tea, dates, baklawa sweets, water, and a chance to forget the devastation they’ve endured with nasheeds, Quranic recitation, as well as a community tarawih.

We also hold games, activities and competitions for children, who also goodie bags containing sweets and toys.

Our staff set up the grand iftar to help families to come together and find relief in the mercy of Ramadan. They gather in the hours before sunset to set up tables and chairs, lighting powered by generators, Ramadan décor, and a stage for the nasheed group and Quranic recitation.

This Ramadan, help families to recover from their trauma and observe a community iftar that spreads joy and ease.
