Winter in Afghanistan
People in Afghanistan have experienced shock after shock – the collapse of the previous government, a devastating earthquake, ongoing climate shocks, and decades of conflict. Today, more than 50% of people in Afghanistan need humanitarian help.
Families here face drought, climate change, economic crisis, and insecurity. In the mountainous regions of Kunar and Laghman, winters bring extreme cold of as low as -13 degrees, snow, and bitter hardship. The most vulnerable families have to live amid snow and sub-zero temperatures without a reliable way to heat their homes.

Warm a family this winter
Donate to our Winter Emergency Appeal and help us to protect the most vulnerable families across seven countries from snow, rain, flooding, freezing temperatures and bitter winds. In Afghanistan, £110 will provide eight people with warm clothing and blankets.
What does the winter kit contain?
In all, we want to provide 1,224 people from 200 families in Kunar and Laghman provinces, Afghanistan to stay warm throughout the bitter winter months.
