Clean water, solar lights for displaced Somalis
100% Zakat applicable
“Those who are merciful will be shown mercy by the Most Merciful. Be merciful to those on the earth and the One above the heavens will have mercy upon you.” (Al-Tirmidhi)
£100 – provide 5 people with access to clean water, handwashing points, and solar-powered lighting.
Conflict, flooding and food insecurity has forced 2.9 million Somalis to flee their homes, the largest population of displaced people live in Kahda, Mogadishu, surviving in camps that lack hygiene facilities and clean water.
A staggering 2.6 million people urgently need support in improving access to clean water, sanitation, and hygiene services.
With your help, we want to overhaul the facilities in one camp in Kahda, providing clean water, solar lighting, and handwashing points for 3,600 people.
Opening a new, safer camp
We want to establish good water, safety, and hygiene facilities at a new camp for 3,600 displaced people. With your help, we’ll install a borehole to provide clean water, as well as piping, and a drainage system. Our technical engineer will oversee the project to ensure the quality of the new facilities and the safety of the water.
We’ll install three community water points and 54 handwashing points, helping to combat the spread of disease, and providing close access to clean water for all 600 families.
Human Appeal will cover the water bills for the first three months, and, after establishing a community-led committee with three trained leaders, we’ll help them to establish a small collaborative fee-paying system to ensure that the water is available sustainably.
By installing 10 solar-powered lights, we’ll help to protect vulnerable women and children from danger during the night time, allowing them to safely access latrines.
In this month of mercy, donate, and help us to improve camp conditions for 600 displaced families.
Our work in Somalia
Human Appeal has been changing lives through our projects in Somalia since 1991. Last year, we helped 287,142 people in Somalia, through healthcare, nutrition, and providing clean water sources and improved hygiene facilities.
Your charity could transform the lives of displaced families, providing clean water for years to come.
Donate and reap the blessings of the month of mercy.
Please note, if sufficient funds are not raised for a particular project, your donation may be reallocated to where the need is greatest.
