Qurbani 2018 – you helped over 200,000 people celebrate Eid al-Adha

Every year, Qurbani is carried out on Eid al-Adha to remember the devotion of the prophet Ibrahim (AS), who was prepared to sacrifice his son for the sake of Allah. It’s a legacy that Muhammad (PBUH) honoured, and a blessed duty for all adult Muslims today.

When the Messenger was asked what Qurbani is, he answered, “It is the Sunnah of your father Ibrahim. For every hair of the Qurbani you receive a reward from Allah.” (Al-Tirmidhi)

Last year, you helped us to fulfil this Sunnah in 13 countries, helping over 200,000 people to celebrate Eid al-Adha. For many, it was their only chance in the year to eat meat.

Here’s How you Helped Thousands of People in Last Year’s Qurbani Appeal:

You supported over 5,000 Yemenis, who are facing malnutrition, disease and the worst humanitarian crisis in the world. In Gaza, which the UN predicts will become unlivable by 2020, you provided fresh and frozen meat to over 8,000 people. And in Syria, where people have endured unimaginable horror, you supported over 30,000 people.

Your donations also supported Syrian refugees in Lebanon, where 93 per cent of Syrians struggle with food shortages. In Bangladesh, which consumes the least meat per capita in the world, you supported 1,346 people.

In India, where inflation has made it difficult for families to afford meat, you supported a staggering 50,230 people. And you also provided Qurbani meat to 18,522 Rohingya people, who have faced brutal violence and persecution in Myanmar.

In total, Human Appeal performed 18,485 Qurbani shares; you spread joy to 208,670 people in Bangladesh, India, Iraq, Jordan, Kenya, Lebanon, Myanmar, Pakistan, Palestine, Somalia, Sudan, Syria and Yemen.

Follow in Their Footsteps

“There are no days on which righteous deeds are more beloved to Allah than these ten days.” (Bukhari)

With your help, we can support even more vulnerable people and continue the legacy of devotion of the prophets this year.

In these blessed first ten days of Dhul Hijjah, magnify your reward from just £26, and give the most vulnerable families two kilos of nutritious meat this Eid.
