Gaza Water Fund
A lifetime of clean water
The Messenger of Allah (PBUH), said, “The best charity is giving water to drink.” (Ahmad)
Earlier this year, bombs decimated Gaza’s water networks, pipes, and wells. Support our Gaza water appeal and provide a sustainable source of clean water, reaping the rewards of this Sadaqah Jariyah for years to come.
£1,500 – Provide clean water for 100 people in Rafah, helping us to build a desalination plant that will provide 60,000 people with fresh water every day.
Families are cut off from clean water. The bombs that fell on Gaza in May decimated the water system. Sewage networks were destroyed, flooding streets with dangerous water. In all 290 water supply locations were damaged during the escalation, and are in urgent need of repair.
Even before the escalation, 97% of water in Gaza was unfit for human consumption, and the entire population relied on a single aquifer, which is chronically contaminated. That means that families that can’t afford the extortionate prices for clean water are forced to drink water polluted by seawater and sewage.
The UN recognises access to water as a human right, and giving water is considered the best of charities in Islam. But many people in Gaza still struggle to access this basic fundamental right. In fact, the single biggest cause of death among children in Gaza is drinking contaminated water.
After years of drinking water polluted by salt, seawater, sewage, and bacteria, many of Gaza’s children go on to suffer health complications such as renal failure, fatal diarrhoea, and dehydration.
Give clean water, reap the blessings for years to come
With your help, we’ll build a desalination plant – including three wells – in Rafah, providing safe drinking water to up to 60,000 people for 15 years. It’s the best charity you can give, and it’s a beautiful act of Sadaqah Jariyah, providing blessings year after year.
Our work in Gaza
We’ve been changing lives in Palestine for 30 years. In 2020, you helped us to support a massive 2,442,221 people through our projects in Palestine, including improving food security for 81,604 people, supporting the healthcare of 100,000 people, and providing clean water and sanitation to 2,244,057 people.
Our recent work includes disinfecting the entire water network of Gaza, building a desalination plant for 15,000 people at Al Aqsa University, and repairing an essential storm water facility in Gaza City, ensuring 30,000 people in Beach refugee camp are protected from the dangers of flooding this winter.
Provide a way out for people forced to drink contaminated water. Transform lives and reap the blessings of this Sadaqah Jariyah.
