A lifetime of clean water

The Messenger of Allah (PBUH), said, “The best charity is giving water to drink.” (Ahmad)

Last Ramadan, bombs decimated Gaza’s water networks, pipes, and wells. Support our Gaza water appeal and provide a sustainable source of clean water, reaping the rewards of this Sadaqah Jariyah for years to come.

£150 – Provide clean water for 10 people in Rafah, helping us to build a desalination plant that will provide 60,000 people with fresh water every day.

Families are cut off from clean water right now. The bombs that fell on Gaza last May, and during escalations since have decimated the water system. Sewage networks were destroyed, flooding streets with dangerous water.

Even before the escalation, 97% of water in Gaza was unfit for human consumption, and the entire population relied on a single aquifer, which is chronically contaminated. That means that families that can’t afford the extortionate prices for clean water are forced to drink water polluted by seawater and sewage.

The UN recognises access to water as a human right, and giving water is considered the best of charities in Islam. But many people in Gaza still struggle to access this basic fundamental right, especially during escalations, when they’re cut off from clean water truckers. In fact, the single biggest cause of death among children in Gaza is drinking contaminated water.

After years of drinking water polluted by salt, seawater, sewage, and bacteria, many of Gaza’s children go on to suffer health complications such as renal failure, fatal diarrhoea, and dehydration.

Give clean water, reap the blessings for years to come

With your help, we’re building a desalination plant – including three wells – in Rafah, providing safe drinking water to up to 60,000 people for 15 years. It’s the best charity you can give, and it’s a beautiful act of Sadaqah Jariyah, providing blessings year after year.

And it’s completely Zakat-eligible too.

Charity brings protection

It’s an incredible blessing to be able to give, no matter how little, as charity offers blessings and protection in this life and the hereafter, and transforms the lives of people facing hardship around the world.

Charity brings mercy upon those who receive as well as those who give. Be a mercy to a Palestinian family struggling to access water, and reap the reward of giving charity.

“Give charity without delay, for it stands in the way of calamity.” (Al-Tirmidhi)

Our work in Gaza

We’ve been changing lives in Palestine for 30 years.

Our recent work includes disinfecting the entire water network of Gaza, building a desalination plant for 15,000 people at Al Aqsa University, and helping to fight the critical medical crisis by providing tens of thousands of medical supplies.

Last year, we helped 2,047,971 people in Palestine through food security, medical, water and sanitation projects. In 2020, you helped us to support 2,442,801 people across Palestine.

Give the best of charities, and reap the ongoing blessings of this Sadaqah Jariyah.
