Shine a light on Gaza’s schools
Say: My Lord, increase me in knowledge. (Quran 20:114)
Gaza’s schools have been chronically overstretched for years, with as few as 4 hours of electricity on some days. Provide a sustainable way out – help us to install solar panels which will power lights, computers, and other educational equipment, allowing children to study without the interruption of power cuts.
£5 - Ensure children receive an education amid the energy crisis in Palestine by providing solar panels in schools to power lights, computers, and water systems.
For the last decade, Gaza’s schools have struggled with chronic power cuts, which have drastically compromised education. Schools operate double-shifts, but often only have 4-6 hours of electricity per day. As a result, the UN estimates that only half of Gaza’s school children are able to reach their potential.
Not only do children face unpredictable attacks, violence, food shortages, and overcrowding, but they can’t work to improve their futures while their schools lack electricity.
Help us to make schools the safe, reliable spaces that every child deserves. Empower children in Palestine to build a better tomorrow through green energy solutions.
Shine a light on Gaza’s future
With your help, we want to provide solar panels to up to 30 schools in vulnerable areas across Gaza. We’ll coordinate with education authorities to select the schools that are struggling most with power outages, and we’ll tailor the energy to each school’s need.
For each school that we support, at least 700 children will benefit, and, with your help, we’ll install around 80 solar panels per school so that they are never vulnerable to cyclical power outages again.
Our work in Palestine
We’ve been changing lives in Palestine for 30 years. Our recent work includes building a desalination plant for 15,000 people at Al Aqsa University, supporting over 3,000 children through winter in Gaza, and helping to fight the critical medical crisis by providing 10,000 medicines. In 2020, we helped a massive 2,442,221 people through our projects in Palestine, including improving food security for 81,604 people, supporting the healthcare of 100,000 people, and providing clean water and sanitation to 2,244,057 people.
Support children who have endured a lifetime of war, blockade, and hardship, by helping them to secure an education and a brighter future.
