Sustainable bread for Yemeni families

Sustainable bread for Yemeni families

Sustainable bread for Yemeni families

The Messenger (PBUH) said: “the dearest of deeds to Allah, may He be exalted, is joy that you bring to a Muslim, or relieving him of distress, or paying off debt for him, or dispelling his hunger.” (Al Tabaraani)

£52 – Provide a vulnerable Yemeni family with 1.5 kilograms of fresh bread every day of Ramadan.

Be a mercy to someone struggling to afford food, and provide a family-of-seven with bread deliveries – weighing 1.5 kilograms – every single day for the entire month of Ramadan. We’ll also provide a local charity with an automatic bread machine able to produce 15,000 loaves a day, providing both an immediate relief to the hunger today, and a sustainable way to produce bread for vulnerable people in the long term.

Be a mercy this Ramadan and multiply your blessings.

Hunger at breaking point

For years Yemenis have struggled with the cost of food, which has spiralled out of control in the last three years. Today, a staggering 17 million Yemenis are acutely malnourished. With 90% of food in Yemen imported, and amid soaring prices, child malnutrition is at an all-time high. 2.2 million young Yemeni children are acutely malnourished – that’s almost half of all children under five.

In all, we want to support 500 families – a total of 3,500 people to have a secure source of bread for the entire month of Ramadan.

Not only will they be able to fast Ramadan without worrying about if they’ll be able to break their fasts, but they’ll be able to spend any income on other items that they urgently need.

Give mercy this Ramadan.

Empowering local resilience

We believe in supporting people in the immediate, but also in capacity-building that supports long-term solutions. As part of this project, we’re providing a local charity with an automatic bread maker which can produce 15,000 loaves per day. We’ll provide the machinery, fuel, generator, water tank to allow them to provide bread to the communities they support in the long term. We’ll also ensure that they have enough ingredients to provide bread to the 500 families in this project for two months.
