Long-term bread for Syrian families

Long-term bread for Syrian families

Long-term bread for Syrian families

The Messenger (PBUH) stressed the importance of feeding others: “The best of you are those who feed others.” (Hadith Ahmad)

£90 – Provide a vulnerable Syrian family-of-six with 1.8 kilos of bread every day for three months.

Be a mercy to someone struggling to afford food, and provide a family with bread deliveries every single day for three months, starting this Ramadan. Families with fewer than five members will receive one parcel of Syrian flatbread containing ten pieces of bread (900g), and families of six or more will receive two parcels.

In all, we want to help 6,000 people from 1,000 families to have a secure source of this staple for three months. This allows families to spend any income on other essentials, and relieves them of the worry of affording bread, the cost of which has soared in recent months.

Be a mercy this Ramadan and help a family to recover from hunger.

Hunger at breaking point

This Ramadan, 12.9 million Syrians need food assistance as their capacity to cope with hunger, displacement, and sickness has been pushed to the brink. Cases of malnutrition are rising as a deadly combination of rising fuel costs, devaluation, high unemployment and the spiralling cost of flour has devastated families.

In Syria, the cost of bread has soared by 62% and more than 50% of people are food insecure.

This project will help the residents of Al Yasamin village, where we’ve provided long-term homes to displaced families. Each family received a flat in a building, containing two bedrooms, a kitchen, a bathroom and a living space. Each flat also has a small outdoor space and a water tank, and is connected to water, sewage, and electricity networks.

By providing them with three months of bread, it gives them an economic boost, helping them to find their feet, look for work, observe Ramadan, without the constant worry of affording the highly inflated cost of bread.

Reap the multiplied blessings of Ramadan. Help a family to have access to bread for three months.

Give mercy today.
