Global Peace and Unity 2013 at ExCeL
Human Appeal was at Global Peace and Unity 2013 (23-24 November) – a two day exhibition home to internationally acclaimed speakers, performers and exciting stalls.
The theme of this year's event – held at the ExCel, London – was 'Freedom For All', with the purpose to promote peaceful coexistence in wider society. There was also an awards ceremony for the charities present.
Largely thanks to our work in Syria during 2013, we scooped the International Charity of the Year Award. The feat topped an already impressive year for Human Appeal, one in which we fed over 6 million Syrians.
Upon receiving the award, Othman Moqbel, Chief Executive, Human Appeal, said: "I am honoured to receive this reward in recognition of Human Appeal's work. This would not have been achieved without the effort and dedication of Human Appeal staff in the UK and abroad, volunteers, trustees and donors. I would like to thank them all for what they have done.
Human Appeal also had two stalls at the festival. One stall raised vital funds for Syria, Palestine and the Philippines. While, the other, was an art exhibition – visitors could get a 3D picture taken of themselves, as if they were flying on a dove above Palestine sending a message of hope.
