Yemen Winter Emergency
Yemeni families are praying for winter to end
”If anyone saved a life it would be as if he saved the life of the whole humanity.” (5:32)
£240 Winter Family Emergency Kit will provide a vulnerable family with warm clothes, blankets, and mattresses, helping them to survive the bitter months.
Death. Disease. Hunger. Malnutrition. It’s been a devastating year in Yemen. Described as the world’s worst humanitarian crisis, 80 per cent of people need assistance and 7.4 million are malnourished - many acutely so. Things have only become worse in winter.
In winter, rain comes in heavy torrents. Temperatures can plummet to below freezing. Many families have already exhausted their savings just trying to survive for this long and don’t have a way to cope with winter, while those displaced by conflict are at extreme risk due to the severity the winter weather brings. We must do all we can to protect Yemen’s most vulnerable.
How your donation will help
We’re providing emergency winter kits to vulnerable families in the governorates of Almahweet and Ibb. We want to reduce the economic burden for 1,841 people, which will help to ensure families aren’t forced to choose between keeping warm and buying food. Please help us to protect families in Yemen today.
Our work so far this winter
So far this winter, you’ve helped 183 families with blankets, mattresses and warm winter clothing for the whole family. Each family member received a winter wardrobe; the parcel included fleece pyjamas, jackets, socks, woollen hats, thermal underwear, shawls and warm jumpers.
Human Appeal has been providing winter emergency aid for 30 years. Last year alone, we provided clothes, mattresses, and blankets to 3,642 newly displaced people in Yemen, helping them to survive the bitter season.
Families in Yemen need our help this winter more than ever, as they struggle with cholera, Chikungunya virus, displacement, war, hunger, and COVID-19.
Winter kills. Please help us save lives in Yemen.
