UK Food Parcel

UK Emergency Food basket

“He is not a believer who fills his stomach while his neighbour goes hungry.” (Bukhari)

Despite the UK being one of the richest countries in the world, our food poverty rate is among the highest in Europe, with 14 million people living below the food line, and 4.5 million children going hungry.

£15 – Provide a nutritious food box to a person struggling to feed themselves.

Make your own food box and drop it off at one of our eight collection points.

Since the start of the pandemic, food insecurity has skyrocketed in the UK, particularly for families with children. This year, rising living costs, soaring fuel prices, and sky-rocketing energy bills have plunged more people into poverty in the UK.

It’s an especially difficult time for the UK’s Muslims, half of whom won’t have enough food to break their fast this Ramadan.

When you donate a food parcel for £15, you’ll be helping one person to have a secure source of food for 7-10 days. Each food parcel will contain milk, pasta, noodles, biscuits, beans, sugar, tuna, tea, tinned foods, and juice.

Make and donate your own food box

You can also fill a box at home yourself. You can include pasta, rice, UHT milk, oil, and tea, as well as any other long-life items from your pantry. We also recommend biscuits, juice, tinned tomatoes, noodles, baked beans, soup, chocolate, tinned fruit or vegetables, and cereal. Please do not include any fresh, frozen, or refrigerated foods.

Drop your self-filled food parcel at one of our eight drop-off points across England and Scotland.

Why give through Human Appeal?

Human Appeal has been working in the UK for six years. This year, your donations have helped to support the most vulnerable families in the UK through food. Last Ramadan, we supported 700 people in the UK via food parcels, and will be providing grants to 8 survivors of domestic abuse. We also supported 700 people with food parcels provided through food banks across Greater Manchester, Birmingham, London and Leicester.

This past winter, we collected 5,219 coats across the UK during our annual Wrap Up campaign in partnership with Hands on London. In all, 22,917 coats were collected by all participating charities which helped to share warmth with people who are homeless, vulnerable, refugees or dependent on food banks. During the campaign, we were supported in 7 cities across the UK by 39 national and local organizations and companies. In total, 117 volunteers gave 358.75 hours collecting and sorting coats.

During Qurbani, we supported over 1,400 people in the UK, distributing the meat of 35 sheep via food banks and soup kitchens in London and Birmingham, which often struggle to source halal meat.

But still families in the UK – especially Muslim families – urgently need help to afford food Reliance on food banks has increased by one third since last year.
