Human Appeal has been providing winter emergency relief for over 27 years, helping to provide shelter, food, warm clothing, bedding and heating to the world’s most vulnerable communities, helping then to survive winter.
As part of our Winter Appeal, we will be providing winter shelter in Iraq in partnership with UNHCR to internally displaced families who are transitioning back to Mosul.
The Iraq conflict displaced some three million people and an estimated 11 million Iraqis need humanitarian assistance.
There are 220,000 Iraqi refugees in other countries and over 2.6 million Iraqis are internally displaced.
The recent Mosul conflict decimated the city. Millions of displaced families are now crammed into dilapidated buildings in areas littered with dangerous devices. Our Iraq emergency shelter project is vital because winter is the hardest month to bear for families living in already unbearable conditions.
In partnership with UNHCR, we will be prioritising female - headed families, families with one or more members who have disabilities and those with little or no income.
For just £1,500, the insulated winter shelters will provide a family with enhanced protection. Constructed to last for five years, they will support the family to rebuild their lives and transition back to their place of origin. The winter shelters can also be repurposed in the construction of their new homes.
Please support vulnerable Iraqis by providing shelter in Iraq this winter and help families ravaged by the Mosul conflict to rebuild their lives.
