Human Appeal has been providing winter emergency relief for over 27 years, helping some of the world’s poorest communities to survive the bitter cold months.
For our Winter Appeal 2018, we are delivering Winter Food Packs in Pakistan, Yemen, Iraq, Syria, Palestine and Lebanon.
Food insecurity in these countries is extremely high. In Pakistan alone, 60% of the population is food insecure. In Yemen 17.8 million people do not know where their next meal will come from and 8.4 million are severely food insecure. In Syria, 6.5 million people are food insecure and a further 4 million are at risk. In Palestine, nearly a quarter of the population cannot afford nutritious food. And in Iraq, 3 million people have no access to food and water.
Winter is extremely hard to bear for poverty and conflict affected communities. Even simple, nutritious food items are a lifeline.
Our Winter Food Packs, which cost just £65 each, are distributed to vulnerable families, refugees, widows, the elderly, people with disabilities and those without work.
Just one Winter Food Pack is enough to sustain a family of between five to seven people with hot meals for one whole month, and contains nourishing items, such as sugar, rice, lentils, chickpeas, beans, spaghetti, oil and cheese.
Last year, we were able to provide warmth and comfort to over 50,000 people during the harsh winter months.
Millions of lives depend upon our emergency response this winter. So, please be a lifeline and donate to our Winter Appeal today.
