Solar water wells and hygiene training in Pakistan
Pakistan is experiencing a brutal drought; 21 million people don’t have access to clean water and experts predict that the country could run out of water by 2025. A fifth of diseases in Pakistan are associated with poor sanitation and water quality. The district of Tharparkar has been one of the worst hit; often the only water source is unsafe groundwater.
“The best charity is giving water to drink.” (Ahmad)
Millions of people in need of safe water
Water is about much more than quenching thirst; it is what creates jobs and helps communities to lift themselves out of poverty. From just £15, you can reap the benefits of the holy month by providing the best of charities this Ramadan. Support our water project in Tharparkar, which will provide solar-powered water wells in five villages, ensuring over 5,000 people have clean water for many years to come.
We will also be providing four training sessions per month in each of the five villages, ensuring that men, women and children in the community know how to use the pumps sustainably so that they provide water for a decade. Each session will also train the community on general health and hygiene to combat the spread of disease and infection in the region.
£15 provides access to the water pump for one person for ten years.

Human Appeal’s work in Pakistan
Over the last year, Human Appeal installed and renovated water pumps in Tharpakar and Sindh, providing clean water to over 6,000 people. Before that, we installed 223 deep water wells in Sindh, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Pakistan-administered Kashmir. We’re also helping vulnerable communities to build resistance to food insecurity caused by water shortages by training 200 families to build kitchen gardens and by providing 4,000 people with an integrated food, nutrition, health and livelihood programme.
Support sustainable water solutions in a country that is battling a brutal and deadly drought, and reap the multiplied blessings of the best of charities this Ramadan. One donation will change lives.
