Shattered by conflict

“Allah is in aid of the servant so long as the servant is in aid of his brother.” (Sahih Muslim)

After 13 years of tragic conflict in Syria, over half a million people have been killed in Syria, and a staggering 14 million people have been forced to flee their homes. It’s the largest refugee crisis in the world, with 1 in 4 refugees coming from Syria.

Together this Ramadan, we can help Syrian families to rebuild their lives by supporting their healthcare, homes, livelihoods, and orphans in the long term, and by providing nutritious iftars every single day of Ramadan.

£150 – Save Al Imaan Hospital - give 6 mothers and babies lifesaving healthcare.

£10 – Provide a sick, pregnant, or injured Syrian with medical care at one of our two primary healthcare centres.

£65 – Provide a vulnerable Syrian family with a nutritious food parcel to last an entire month.

£5 – Provide a Syrian with a hot iftar meal to break their fast.

£50 – Provide a vulnerable Syrian family with two kilograms of fresh bread every day for five months.

£15 – Plant an olive tree in Syria, providing an income and livelihood to a Syrian farmer.

£35/month – Provide a Syrian orphan with food, clothing, healthcare and learning materials for a month, helping them to build a better future.

£250 – Help us to build a long-lasting home containing a living room, bedroom, a kitchen and a bathroom (1/12 shares).

This Ramadan, Syrians struggle to afford iftar with soaring food prices, which have made life unbearable for families that have already had to endure conflict and displacement. As we break our fasts each Maghrib, a staggering 12.9 million people in Syria are in the grip of hunger – more than half of the entire population.

A precise combination of crises have pushed families to the brink. As the price of food soars, a father needs to earn more to feed his children, but with the collapse of infrastructure, reliable jobs are hard to come by. As it gets harder to meet his children’s needs, their health struggles. But with the healthcare system decimated, and the cost of treatment too high, this father can’t get treatment for his children, and the high cost of food makes them weaker. At every step, their struggle spirals.

Human Appeal’s projects in Syria address all sides of this struggle. Right now, we’re providing nutritious month-long food parcels and daily bread deliveries, which we’ll continue for five months: The father has enough food to feed his children, and can look for work without the worry or urgency of his children going hungry.

Our Al Imaan Hospital provides free healthcare in northern Syria. For those who aren’t able to reach the hospital, we have an ambulance, and for simple, treatable cases, our mobile clinics provide nearby treatment so families don’t have to travel the long distance to the hospital: The children can get free treatment, helping to protect them from spiraling sickness and malnutrition.

Our homes project has provided 10,000 Syrians from 2,000 families with a safe, long-term home connected to the water and sewage system: The family is protected from waterborne sickness and has a safe place to lay their heads.

At all levels, our local team in Syria is working to provide the most vulnerable families with food, healthcare, homes, and livelihoods, but we urgently need your help this Ramadan to continue protecting those who are most in danger.

Good deeds in Ramadan are rewarded multiple times over. Donate, be a mercy to a family in struggle, and multiply your blessings.
